1988-044i CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. 88-44 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING THE OFFICE OF MAYOR PRO TEM OF THE CITY, PURSUANT TO THE HOME RULE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE UPON PASSAGE AND APPROVAL. WHEREAS, a Home Rule Charter was approved by the voters in a duly called charter election April 4,1987; and, WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the new Home Rule Charter is needed, feasible and in the best interest of the community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT: Section 1. That all the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the City Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this resolution as if copied in their entirety. 1 Section 2. The office of Mayor Pro Tem shall be established pursuant to Section 2.07 of the Home Rule Charter of the City of Southlake, Texas. Section 3. That effective immediately, the Mayor has appointed Councilperson Betty Springer , with the approval of the City Council, to serve as Mayor Pro Tem, who shall hold office for one year. The Mayor Pro Tem shall perform the duties of Mayor in case of the absence or disability of the Mayor, and if a vacancy shall occur in the office of the Mayor, shall become Mayor until the next regular election. Section 4. That this Resolution be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
