CALL TO ORDER Library Board Chair Flores called the meeting of the Southlake Library Board to order at 6:04 p.m. 2. CONSENT AGENDA Consent agenda items are considered to be routine by the Southlake Library Board and are enacted with one motion. Chair Flores read the consent agenda item for the record. 2A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 25, 2015 SOUTHLAKE LIBRARY BOARD MEETING. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes from the March 25, 2015, Southlake Library Board meeting. Motion: Burr Second: Esparza Ayes: Flores, Miyazaki, Roberts, and Ross Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 6-0 Motion Carried. REPORTS 3A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT 1. New Services and Enhancements City Librarian Pfledderer said staff has been working to enhance the Library and the reviewed the various new services. She said Maria Cameron, Adult Services Librarian, who is also the Volunteer Liaison has setup self -scheduling for the volunteers which benefits the volunteers to that they can schedule themselves. Also, training has been implemented for the volunteers for their first 2 -hour shift to familiarize them with the Library. She demonstrated the Library's catalog and navigated through the dashboards to show various features that are available for the users. Librarian Wells updates the youth lists, special collections and provides recommendations for the mystery readers and there is information regarding the summer kickoff and other reader advisories. She said the New Releases section sign is up and to draw the attention of the families coming in and to have everything in the front area where all the new materials are. She showed the Library maps which is a simple diagram which shows customers where they can locate large collection books in the Library. Wait times have been reduced for materials and hold requests have increased due to reduced wait times. 313. Library Statistics City Librarian Pfledderer reviewed the Library statistics and discussed the changes including the increases from the automatic renewals being implemented and statistics were up largely due to Spring Break. 4. DISCUSSION 4A. Volunteer Needs City Librarian Pfledderer mentioned if the Board knew of any volunteers to refer them, and asked if anyone is available to come out for the Summer Kickoff event to help volunteer with the outside registration. 413. Summer Reader Demonstration Youth Services Librarian Wells provided the brochure for the Summer Reader program and gave an overview of it. She said parents will have the responsibility of registering their children for the program. She showed the links and demonstrated how to register then reviewed the various features. Also, new this year is the pre-school program and activities are planned which are geared toward their age group. Donation Updates City Librarian Pfledderer said that Brigg's Freeman Sotheby's Realty has agreed to be the Presenting Sponsor along with Friends of the Southlake Library (FOSL) this year for Summer Reading program. She said FOSL has provided a $4,500 donation which has allowed the Library to start ordering prizes. Also, Kroger is the Summer Reading program level sponsor and has donated $1,000. Target has an Early Childhood Reading grant program which has recently been discontinued but they provided $1,000 since they discontinued the program. This donation has been added to the existing $2,000 previously—received grant from Target. Little Sunshine's Playhouse Preschool has donated $1,000, where half is $500 cash and half is in-kind. $1,000 donation is the lowest level donation for participation in the Summer Kickoff and this is an exception because some previous sponsors are legacy sponsors. 5. PUBLIC FORUM — Chair Flores opened the public forum and asked for anyone wishing to speak to come forward. There being no one wishing to speak, public forum was closed. 6.
