3A. CITY LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
1. New Services and Enhancements
City Librarian Pfledderer said staff has been working to enhance the Library and
the reviewed the various new services. She said Maria Cameron, Adult Services
Librarian, who is also the Volunteer Liaison has setup self -scheduling for the
volunteers which benefits the volunteers to that they can schedule themselves.
Also, training has been implemented for the volunteers for their first 2 -hour shift
to familiarize them with the Library. She demonstrated the Library's catalog and
navigated through the dashboards to show various features that are available for
the users. Librarian Wells updates the youth lists, special collections and
provides recommendations for the mystery readers and there is information
regarding the summer kickoff and other reader advisories. She said the New
Releases section sign is up and to draw the attention of the families coming in
and to have everything in the front area where all the new materials are. She
showed the Library maps which is a simple diagram which shows customers
where they can locate large collection books in the Library. Wait times have
been reduced for materials and hold requests have increased due to reduced
wait times.
313. Library Statistics
City Librarian Pfledderer reviewed the Library statistics and discussed the
changes including the increases from the automatic renewals being implemented
and statistics were up largely due to Spring Break.

4C. Donation Updates
City Librarian Pfledderer said that Brigg's Freeman Sotheby's Realty has agreed
to be the Presenting Sponsor along with Friends of the Southlake Library (FOSL)
this year for Summer Reading program. She said FOSL has provided a $4,500
donation which has allowed the Library to start ordering prizes. Also, Kroger is
the Summer Reading program level sponsor and has donated $1,000. Target
has an Early Childhood Reading grant program which has recently been
discontinued but they provided $1,000 since they discontinued the program. This
donation has been added to the existing $2,000 previously—received grant from
Target. Little Sunshine's Playhouse Preschool has donated $1,000, where half is
$500 cash and half is in-kind. $1,000 donation is the lowest level donation for
participation in the Summer Kickoff and this is an exception because some
previous sponsors are legacy sponsors.
