Item 3BACitywide Beautification Enhancements June 2, 2015 Mayor Hill and members of the City Council…We want to give you a quick update on this year’s City Beautification efforts… 1 City of Southlake Strategy Map Critical Business Outcomes CBO1 - Continue to implement Southlake 2030 Plan by focusing on short-term initiatives. CBO2 - Become an employer of choice by developing a plan to recruit, develop and retain employees committed to excellence. CBO3 - Develop long-term strategies to address future financial uncertainties and challenges. CBO4 - Improve mobility by proactively completing traffic analysis of key areas. The Citywide Beautification Initiatives are linked to the City’s Strategy Map related to the focus areas of Quality Development and Performance Management & Service Delivery and meets the corporate objectives to provide attractive & unique spaces for the enjoyment of personal interests, achieve best-in-class status in all City disciplines, enhance resident quality of life & business vitality through tourism, and invest to provide & maintain high quality public assets. Parks and Public Works staff will continue to supplement the maintenance provided by TxDOT. 2-3 times per year, TxDOT mows the entire corridor and removes trash and debris. Over the next few weeks, staff will be removing the excess dirt, debris and weeds along the concrete median & ROW areas and will continue to handle weed control. Staff will also have the City’s landscape maintenance contractor supplement the mowing and trash removal efforts as needed. TxDOT Mowing – Weather dependent – May/June, July/Aug & Sept/Oct TxDOT Trash – Approximately 6 times per year (randomnly) City Costs to Supplement: $6,500 per Contractor mowing $200 per Contractor trash pick-up $500 per Contractor mowing (intersection areas) 38 Questions? 39
