2015-04-28CITY OF SOUTHLAKE SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING, APRIL 28, 2015 LOCATION: 1400 Main Street, Southlake, Texas Southlake Town Hall — 4A TIME: 6:00 p.m. SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL PRESENT: Chair Leslie Bartlett, Vice Chair Miriam Murray, Secretary Jesika Cook and Southlake Arts Council members, Merlene Ingraham, Tamara McMillan, Terri Messing and Christina Esparza (Alternate #1) SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Deputy Director of Community Services Candice Edmondson and Assistant to the Director Cassie Tucker STAFF ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Sara Egelston Akers and Dr. James R. Egelston, representatives of the Plano Children's Theatre and McKinney Youth Theatre 1. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Bartlett called the meeting of the Southlake Arts Council to order at 6:04 p.m. 2. CONSENT AGENDA Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the Southlake Arts Council and are enacted with one motion. 2A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 24, 2015 SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING There were no corrections to the minutes APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes as read. Public Forum was moved up on the agenda and considered out of the regular agenda order. APPROVED A motion was made to consider Public Forum next on the agenda. Motion: Messing Second: Murray Ayes: Bartlett, Cook, Esparza, Ingraham, Messing, McMillan and Murray Nays: None Abstain: None Vote: 7-0 5. PUBLIC FORUM Sara Egelston Akers and Dr. James R. Egelston, representatives of the Plano Children's Theatre and McKinney Youth Theatre, addressed the Arts Council about programs, performances and training offered at the Plano Children's and McKinney Youth theatres. 3. CONSIDER 3A. RECOMMENDATION OF FINALISTS FROM CALL TO ARTISTS FOR PUBLIC ART FOR THE ROUNDABOUT AT DOVE ROAD AND PEYTONVILLE AVENUE/SAM SCHOOL ROAD AND THE MARQ SOUTHLAKE Assistant to the Director Cassie Tucker presented the submittals received from the Call to Artists for public art for the roundabout at Dove Road and Peytonville Avenue/Sam School Road and for The Marq Southlake. The Arts Council selected Dream Big, Kathleen Caricof, and Seth Vandable for the roundabout and Dream Big, Kathleen Caricof, and Mark Leichliter for The Marq Southlake. APPROVED A motion was made to recommend the top three artists as finalists as presented (artist submittals 6, 17, 4 and 20). DISCUSSION 4A. FUTURE PUBLIC ART OPPORTUNITIES The Arts Council briefly discussed Town Hall Art Exhibits, an Arts Council/Apex Event at The Marq, potential juried art exhibit and Apex Film Festival. These items will be discussed at the next meeting. 6.
