CALL TO ORDER Chairman Bartlett called the meeting of the Southlake Arts Council to order at 6:04 p.m. 2. CONSENT AGENDA Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the Southlake Arts Council and are enacted with one motion. 2A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE JANUARY 27, 2015 SOUTH LAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING There were no corrections to the minutes APPROVED A motion was made to approve the minutes as read. CONSIDER CALL TO ARTISTS FOR PUBLIC ART FOR THE ROUNDABOUT AT THE INTERSECTION OF DOVE ROAD AND PEYTONVILLE/SAM SCHOOL ROAD Deputy Director Edmondson presented a revised Call to Artists for public art for the roundabout at Dove Road and Peytonville Avenue/Sam School Road and was available to answer questions from the Council. The timeline for the Call is: Call to Artists Issued Application Deadline Arts Council Review/Selection Notification to Finalists Presentation by Finalists Notification of Selected Artist Execution of Contract March 6, 2015 March 31, 2015 April 28, 2015 April 29, 2015 May 2015 May 2015 June 2015 APPROVED A motion was made that the Arts Council recommend approval of the Call to Artists for public art for the roundabout located at the intersection of Dove Road and Peytonville Avenue/Sam School Road as presented. CALL TO ARTISTS FOR PUBLIC ART AT PHASE I OF THE MARQ SOUTHLAKE Deputy Director Edmondson presented a Call to Artists for public art for Phase I of The Marq Southlake and was available to answer questions from the Council. The timeline for The Marq Southlake Phase I art piece is the same as the timeline for the above roundabout project. RECOMMENDATION ON ART DONATION FROM TRISH BIDDLE Deputy Director Edmondson presented the proposed donation of a painting from Trish Biddle and was available to answer questions from the Council. The painting, which is a reprint, depicts a couple sitting outside of Southlake Town Hall during the holiday season. The original painting was created during the Festival of Trees celebration in 2010. The current Public Art Policy and Public Art Display and/or Performance Policy, both provide a process for consideration of art donations to the City from private individuals. The Arts Council discussed the theme of the painting and suggested the painting be displayed during the City's annual display of holiday decorations. APPROVED A motion was made to approve the proposed donation of a painting from Trish Biddle, with the recommendation the painting be included as part of the City's holiday decorations. STROKES OF ART /N THE SQUARE RECEPTION AND EXHIBIT FEBRUARY 22, 2015 City of Southlake Values: Integrity ♦ Innovation ♦ Accountability ♦ Commitment to Excellence ♦ Teamwork Minutes of the March 4, 2015 Southlake Arts Council Meeting Page 4 of 4 Southlake Arts Council members discussed the Strokes of Art in the Square reception held February 22, 2015. Ideas for future events were offered including: have Arts Council work on food for next reception; have additional signs in the park and around Town Square to promote the event; ensure the event is on the City's Arts and Culture Calendar; provide additional seating as needed and rent a coat rack. 4B. FUTURE PUBLIC ART OPPORTUNITIES Deputy Director Edmondson opened discussion on the Fall Art Exhibit, which will be presented in partnership with Southlake Historical Society, and was available to answer questions from the Council. A discussion item for a Christmas exhibit will be added to the next agenda. Assistant to Director Tucker presented a proposed public art location map that will be placed on the City's website. Graphic and artistic suggestions were offered by the Arts Council. An informational handout on the upcoming election process for Phase II of The Marq Southlake project was distributed. 5. PUBLIC FORUM No one was present to address the Arts Council during Public Forum. 6.
