1. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Sporn called the meeting of the Senior Advisory Commission to order at
1:03 p.m.
2. CONSENT AGENDA Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the
Commission and are enacted with one motion.
2A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE NOVEMBER 11, 2014 REGULAR
SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION.

4. REPORTS
4A. CITY MANAGER'S OFFICE & COMMUNITY SERVICES
Communications & Website Manager Pilar Schank presented the City Manager's
Report and responded to questions. The City will host the Community Engagement
Committee Mobility Forum and The Marq - Southlake meetings in December.
Director Tribble presented an update on construction of the community recreation
center and distributed aerial photos showing the progress to date. Construction is on
schedule and it is anticipated to be substantially complete in September 2015.

4B. METROPORT MEALS ON WHEELS
MMOW representative Mary King presented the MMOW monthly report and
upcoming events and programs. Ms. King was available to answer questions.

CARS representative Brighton Greene distributed the CARS monthly participation trip
report and summarized the ride fluctuations and statistics during November and
December. Mr. Greene was available to answer questions.
4D. SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATOR
Senior Services Coordinator Soheila Phelps reported on upcoming holiday events
and programs at the Center. Members were informed about a prescription drug bag
advertising campaign with Southlake Kroger and also a new exercise program to be
launched in January. Ms. Phelps was available to answer questions.
4E. SOUTHLAKE SENIOR FUNDING, INC.
Southlake Senior Funding, Inc., Secretary Nancy Sporn reported on SSFI fundraising
efforts including seeking grants for overnight field trips. New officers have been
elected for SSFI and they are: Suzanne Van Dusen, President; David Baltimore,
Treasurer; and Nancy Sporn, Secretary. Ms. Sporn was available to answer
questions.
5. PUBLIC FORUM
Chairman Sporn acknowledged the public forum. There being no one wishing to
speak, Chairman Sporn proceeded to the next agenda item.
Members discussed the senior name badges and how they are used to obtain an
accurate audit of participation at the center. Members feel the print is too small on the
badges.
6. CONSIDER
6A. ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Chair Sporn presented information concerning election of officers. The Commission
discussed the language in the Bylaws and agreed to appoint Charlie Boyd, David
Baltimore and Jean Boland to a subcommittee to further investigate the SAC Bylaws
and propose a recommendation to rectify the language concerning term of officers
and timing of election thereof.
WITHDRAWN
A motion was made to keep the same officers as is with Nancy Sporn, chair; Charlie
Boyd, vice chair; and Marge Kyle, secretary.
Following further discussion, SAC member Blake withdrew the motion.

make a recommendation of proper wording for the Bylaws.
