Price, P.E., Director of Public Works Subject: Ratify Change Order No. 2 with Pavecon, Ltd. for the North Kimball Avenue — Kirkwood Boulevard to Dove Road project in the amount of $34,500. Action Requested: Background Information: Financial Considerations: Ratify Change Order No. 2 with Pavecon, Ltd. for the North Kimball Avenue — Kirkwood Boulevard to Dove Road project in the amount of $34,500. The purpose of this item is to ratify Change Order No. 2 to the construction contract with Pavecon, Ltd. Change Order No. 1 was approved by the City Manager for unforeseen utility relocations located in the Kimball Ave. and Dove Rd. intersection and will be reimbursed by the City of Grapevine in the amount of $32,513.72. Change Order No. 2 consists of the relocation of additional underground utilities encountered during excavation and construction of the Kimball Ave. and Dove Rd. intersection. The ratification is required as the utility relocation for the additional Grapevine utilities has been authorized and paid for in an effort to keep the project progressing. Change Order No. 2 also includes additional proposed drainage improvements at the intersection to be shared by the City of Southlake and the City of Grapevine. Southlake's share of Change Order No. 2 is $19,275.04 with Grapevine responsible for the remaining $14,962.88. Southlake's portion of Change Order No. 2 consists of several domestic water service adjustments, fire hydrant adjustments and sanitary sewer manhole adjustments along with the shared drainage improvements through the intersection of Kimball Avenue and Dove Road. Funds are available Avenue — Kirkwood within budget. in the City Council approved North Kimball Boulevard to Dove Road project and is still Strategic Link: The construction of Kimball Avenue links to the City's Strategy Map relative to focus area of Mobility, Infrastructure, Partnerships and Volunteerism, and Performance Management and Service Delivery. The specific corporate objectives that are met by this construction project are to provide travel convenience within the City and region, to invest to provide and maintain high quality public assets, promote opportunities for partnerships and volunteer involvement and to collaborate with select partners to implement service solutions. The Critical Business Outcome is to optimize resources through collaboration and partnerships to reduce costs and add service value.
