A RESOI,UTYON OF TIlE CITY OE SOUTHLAKE, TEiXAS
SUPPORTING THF EXTENSION OF RUNWAYS AND TIIE
1NSTAIJ.ATION OF AN INSTRIIMENT I,ANDING SYSTEM
(II.S) FOR THE FORT WORTH ALLIANCE AIRPORT.
WHEREAS, the FAA and tho City of Fort Worth propose to extend
the runway at Fort Worth Alliance Airport (the "Airport") 1,400
foet Lo the north (the "Extension") ; and
WHEREAS, the Extension will allow heavier aircraft to utilize
the Airport by changing the runway length from 8,200 feet to:
Takeoff on runway 16: 9,600 feet
Landing on runway 16: 8,200 feet
Takeoff on runway 34: 9,600 feet
Landing on runway 34: 9,600 feet
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Worth proposes to install an
instrument landing system (the "ILS") that will serve aircraft
approaching the Airport from the south; and
WHEREAS, the Extension and the ILS will further enhance the
c&pabitity of the airport to serve the general public and the
industries in the surrounding metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the Extension and the ILS will increase safety,
efficiency, and re!iabilJty at the Airport;
NOW, THEREFORE BE I? RFSOLVED that the City of Southlake
hereby resolves that the Extension and the ILS at the Airport, will
enhance the capabJlity of the Airport to serve the citizens of
Southlake and the general public; and
FURTHERMORE, the City Council resolves that it is in the best
interest of the citizens of Southlake to support the Extension and
thc !I,S at the Airport.
