A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE PLANNING AND ZONING
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE TO CONDUCT PUBLIC
HEARINGS AND TO REPORT TO THE CITY COUNCIL AS
EXPEDITIOUSLY AS POSSIBLE ITS RECOMMENDATIONS RELATING
TO THE REZONING AND RECLASSIFICATION OF PROPERTIES
ZONED PRIOR TO THE ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 334;
PROHIBITING THE ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION, REPAIR OR RENOVATION OF STRUCTURES ON
SAID PROPERTIES PENDING CONSIDERATION BY THE PLANNING
AND ZONING COMMISSION AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF
APPROPRIATE ZONING CLASSIFICATIONS FOR SAID
PROPERTIES; PROVIDING FOR A METHOD OF REPEAL OF THIS
RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING THAT THIS RESOLUTION SHALL
TAKE EFFECT IMMEDIATELY UPON PASSAGE
WHEREAS, on August 2, 1986, the City of Southlake adopted
Ordinance No. 334, the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, which
divided the city into zones or districts regulating the location,
size, height, bulk and use of building within such zones or
districts and otherwise making different regulations for different
districts; and
WHEREAS,

City of Southlake which had been previously zoned under the terms
of prior zoning ordinances of the City of Southlake; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 334 created and adopted new zoning
district classifications to be placed on all properties within the
corporate city limits of the City of Southlake; and
WHEREAS, the city has implemented a process to rezone and
reclassify all properties within the corporate city limits under
the new zoning classifications adopted by Ordinance No. 334; and
WHEREAS, although the city has worked expeditiously and
reasonably in performing this rezoning and reclassification of
properties, there still exist within the city several areas which
currently remain unclassified under the terms of Ordinance No.
334; and

relating to proposed zoning classifications of all properties

SECTION 2
Pursuant to the valid exercise of police power granted to the
city under Chapters 51 and 211 of the Local Government Code, the
issuance of building permits for the construction, repair and
renovation of structures on the above-described properties within
the City of Southlake shall be prohibited pending the expeditious
consideration by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City
Council of the question of adopting appropriate zoning
classifications under the terms of Ordinance No. 334 on said
properties. The purpose of this prohibition is to maintain the
status quo within the city until such time as proper zoning
and regulations have been adopted on such
classifications

SECTION 3
Ail declarations and findings contained in the preamble of
this Resolution are made a part hereof and shall be fully
effective as a part of the ordained subject matter of this
Resolution.
SECTION 4
This Resolution shall automatically expire 120 days from the
date of adoption hereof unless it is continued in full force and
effect by amendment or adoption of a new resolution.
