PROJECT: Master Sign Plan for Kimball Oaks
EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY: On behalf of Strode Property Company, the Richmond Group is requesting
approval of a Master Sign Plan for the new Kimball Oaks retail center generally
located at the southwest corner of E. Southlake Blvd. and S. Kimball Avenue at
2221 E. Southlake Boulevard.
REQUEST: The proposed Master Sign Plan includes sign regulations for three (3) monument
signs located on E. Southlake Boulevard, S. Kimball Avenue and Village Center
Drive; "Corner Feature" sign structures with the logos of the development and the
City of Southlake located at the northeast corner of the development (corner of E.
Southlake Blvd. & S. Kimball Ave.); and regulations for the attached signs on the
buildings.
At the May 20, 2014 City Council meeting, the applicant received approval
for the three monument signs as presented, the "Corner Feature" sign, Building "C"
for the south and east elevations only, and Buildings "E" and "G" as presented in
the Master Sign Plan. The applicant is seeking approval for the remaining building
signs and is proposing modifications to the Building "E" signs and Building "C"
signs, including the east and the north sign elevations for PGA sign. The applicant
is bringing forth the remaining signs seeking approval from City Council in order to
complete their final sign package.
A summary of the sign types and modifications requested in the Master Sign Plan
follows. Please refer to the attached master sign plan packet (Attachment C) for
complete details.

REQUEST: The applicant is requesting approval of a Master Sign Plan. Please
refer to the attached master sign plan packet (Attachment D) for
complete sign details.
COUNCIL ACTION: May 6, 2014: Approved (6-0) the applicant's request to table until
the May 20, 2014 City Council meeting.
May 20, 2014: Approved (7-0) the Master Sign Plan for Kimball
Oaks only approving the subject signs as discussed in this motion:
With respect to Building 'E': approving the sign package as
presented in the drawings before Council and the scale presented
on the architectural drawings are subject to the staffs review and
concurrence with the scale therein; also only approving Building 'G',
otherwise known as the Bassett sign, with the same stipulated
requirements as Building 'E'; approving the monument sign
package adding the applicant will add eight inch (8") illuminated
address numbers in the range appropriate for the addresses in the
development; and also approving the Corner Sign Feature as
presented at S. Kimball Avenue and E. Southlake Boulevard; and
also approving, with respect to Building 'C', only approving the east
and south elevations with the sign and logo fitting within the existing
architectural elements as indicated in the drawings, specifically
within the lighter colored tan area within the columns; and for staff
to review the intent of Council to have the appropriate band of
architectural color around the sign within the architectural element
on the building.
