Quarterly Report
Fall was a very busy season for our seniors. We had lots of trips and in house
activities planned for them.
We started off with....
• Empowering Seniors 2013 — a free educational & fun event organized by Tarrant County
Commissioner Gary Fickes
• Perot Museum blew us away; one day is not enough to see it all
• Toured the Le Cordon Bleu Dallas campus and had a wonderful lunch prepared by the students
• Harvest Festival was attended by many including some of the city staff who helped us judge the
chili cook -off and Halloween custom contest. We celebrated Arbor Day and planted a tree too.
The trick or treaters from RES preschoolers was a great finish to our event
• George W. Bush Library was a popular place to visit and learn how our president lived and
conducted some of his daily routine
• Klyde Warren Park in Dallas was interesting
• The most popular trip of this quarter was the "Fall Foliage Trip to Athens, TV. This trip was
partly sponsored by a contribution from Sam Pack's Five Star Ford through efforts of Southlake
Senior Funding Inc.
• We were amazed by a wonderful Christmas lights show in Grand Prairie
When we weren't traveling we did a few things in house....
• We celebrated National Firefighter's Week by inviting some of our local firefighters to join us
for lunch and they didn't disappoint ---their visit was memorable
• Ken Baker, Sr. Director of Planning and Development, shared information about projects going
on in Southlake and what they mean to our seniors
• State Representative Giovanni Capriglione shared valuable information about the November
election
• A Lunch & Learn provided by Medical Air Services Association (MASA) educated our seniors on
preparing for emergency situations
• One of the highlights of December was being entertained by 50 RESPECT choir students from
Rockenbaugh Elementary, it sure put everyone in a Christmas mood
• We had a great turn out for our 3rd annual Holiday Party. Our seniors sure know how to party!
And we're looking forward....
• To a great new year and can't wait to see what 2014 has in store for us
