PROJECT: Master Sign Plan for King's University
EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY: On behalf of Gateway Church, Beck Architecture is requesting approval of a
Master Sign Plan for King's University located at 2121 East Southlake Boulevard.
REQUEST: The proposed Master Sign Plan includes sign regulations for parking and
pedestrian directional signs, attached building signs and a monument sign. The
purpose of the signage plan for the King's University is to maintain the style and
standards of the existing, previously -approved signage while bringing the design
and naming style closer to the existing Gateway 114 church campus.
A summary of the sign types requested in the Master Sign Plan follows. Please
refer to the attached master sign plan packet (Attachment D) for complete details.

PROPERTY SITUATION: The property is located at 2121 E Southlake Blvd
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Lot 1A, Block 1, Gateway Church Addition
HISTORY: -May 15, 2001, City Council approved a zoning change and site
plan for Gateway Church (ZA00-124)
-June 5, 2002, a permit was issued for a development sign
-April 24, 2003, a permit was issued for an attached building sign
-May 1, 2003, a permit was issued for a grand opening banner
-May 27, 2003, a permit was issued for the entrance monument
signs
-October 27, 2003, a permit was issued for a directory monument
sign
-December 6, 2005, City Council approved a sign variance for a
banner to be displayed for 21 days (maximum is 15 days) (SP05-
382)

STAFF COMMENTS: The sign criteria, site plan and application are attached to this
report. The narrative submitted by the applicant states one (1)
monument sign. To clarify, there are two (2) monument signs
proposed which are identical. The intent is to replace the sign face
on the two (2) existing monument sign structures.
REQUEST: The applicant is requesting approval of a Master Sign Plan. Please
refer to the attached master sign plan packet (Attachment D) for
complete sign details.
