1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Bartlett called the meeting of the Southlake Arts Council to order at 6:04
p.m.
2. CONSENT AGENDA
Consent Agenda items are considered to be routine by the Southlake Arts
Council and are enacted with one motion. Chair Bartlett read the consent agenda
item for the record.
2A. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 11, 2013 REGULAR
SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING.
Board members commented about the importance of regular attendance at the
monthly meetings. City Council will make appointments to fill expired term
positions at an October meeting.
There were no corrections to the minutes.

A motion was made to approve the minutes from the June 11, 2013 Southlake
Arts Council meeting as read.

3. CONSIDER
3A. RECOMMENDATION ON PROPOSED FY 2014 PUBLIC ART FUND BUDGET
Deputy Director Edmondson reviewed expenditures proposed in the Public Art
Fund Budget for FY 2014 and responded to questions regarding the Public
Sculpture Program Phase I (Frank Edgar Cornish, IV Park) and Phase II (small
courtyard adjacent to McPherson Park and Hilton Hotel veranda); arts related
event and program funding; and roundabout art funded in the construction
budgets.
APPROVED
A motion was made to recommend approval of the proposed FY 2014 Public Art
Fund Budget.

3B. RECOMMENDATION AND SELECTION OF ART FROM CALL TO ARTISTS
FOR TOUCHES OF HOPE ART EXHIBIT SEPTEMBER 8 — OCTOBER 31,
2013 IN THE TOWN HALL LOBBY
Deputy Director Edmondson presented an overview of the Call to Artists for the
exhibit, Touches of Hope, September 8 - October 31, 2013. Southlake Arts
Council member Messing shared information to aid members in selection of
artwork. Art submittals received in response to the Call to Artists were reviewed
and artwork was selected for the Touches of Hope art exhibit.
No motion was made for this item.
3C. RECOMMENDATION OF OUTDOOR SCULPTURE FOR LULULEMON STORE
LOCATED IN SOUTHLAKE TOWN SQUARE.
Deputy Director Edmondson presented the proposed sculpture to be installed in
Town Square on the sidewalk in front of the Lululemon store located at 211
Grand Avenue. Lululemon proposes a cast iron sculpture of a woman seated in
the lotus yoga pose. A wooden seating bench will also be installed next to the
sculpture. Lululemon is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the
sculpture and sidewalk restoration should the store relocate from Town Square.

The Arts Council discussed this item and recommended the position of the
woman's hands be changed to rest on the knees instead of the prayer hands
proposed.
APPROVED
A motion was made to recommend approval of the outdoor sculpture for
Lululemon with the recommendation that the hands be sculpted resting on the
knees.

4. DISCUSSION
4A. TOUCHES OF HOPE RECEPTION
Committee members discussed preparations and details for the Touches of Hope
reception to be held Sunday, September 8, 2013, in the Town Hall lobby.

There was no one present to speak at Public Forum.
6. ADJOURNMENT
