2001-05-08SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OFFICIAL CANVASS TOWN HALL, 1400 MAIN STREET SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS MINUTES MAY 8, 2001 COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Rick Stacy; Councilmembers: Patsy DuPre, Greg Standerfer and Rex Potter. COUNCILMEMBERS ABSENT: Mayor Pro Tem Gary Fawks; Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Ronnie Kendall and Councilmember Keith Shankland. CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Billy Campbell; Assistant to the City Manager John Eaglen; Director of Public Safety Ricky Black; and, City Secretary Sandra L. LeGrand. ELECTION OFFICIALS: Election Judge Karen Cienki; and, Alternate Election Judge Pattie Minder. Agenda Item #1, Call To Order Mayor Rick Stacy called thc Special City Council meeting to order at 6:10 p.m. Agenda Item #2, Resolution No. 01-024, Canvassing Returns and Declaring Results of General Election held on May 5, 2001 Mayor Rick Stacy read Resolution No. 01-024, canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the General Election held on May 5, 2001, into the record. The resolution stated the following were elected to office for three (3) year terms with terms to expire in May 2004: Place 3, W. Ralph Evans; Place 4, Greg Standerfer; and Place 5, Tom Stephen. A copy of Resolution No. 01-024 is hereby made a part of the minutes of this meeting. Motion was made to approve Resolution No. 01-024, as presented. Motion: DuPre Second: Potter Ayes: DuPre, Potter, Standcrfer, Stacy Nays: None Approved: 4-0 vote Agenda Item #3, Resolution No. 01-025, Canvassing Returns and Declaring Results of Special Election held on May 5, 2001. Special City Council Meeting Minutes of May 8, 2001 Official Canvass of May 5, 2001, Election Page 1 of 2 Mayor Rick Stacy read Resolution No. 01-025, Canvassing the returns and declaring the rcsults of the Special Election held on May 5, 2001, whereby six (6) Amendments to the Home Rule Charter were on thc ballot. A copy of Resolution No. 01-025 is hereby made a part of the minutes of this meeting. Motion was made to approve Resolution No.01-025, as presented. Motion: Potter Second: DuPre Ayes: Potter, DuPrc, Standerfer, Stacy Nays: None Approved: 4-0 vote Agenda Item #4, Resolution No. 01-026, Calling for a runoff election (if necessary) No action was taken on Resolution No. 01-026, as a runoff election is not necessary as the result of the May 5, 2001, election. Agenda Item #5, Adjournment Prior to adjournment of the Special City Council meeting, Election Judge Karen Cienki made comments regarding the clection held on May 5, 2001, noting that everything went well once again.
