Item 4GCITY OF SOUTHLAKI MEMORANDUM February 13, 2013 To: Shana Yelverton, City Manager From: Sharen Jackson, Director of Finance Subject: Resolution No. 13-010, Accepting bid for the sale of certain property struck off pursuant to Section 34.01, Texas Property Tax Code Action Requested: Approval of Resolution No. 13-010 accepting bid for the sale of property. Background Information: The City received a bid of $7,700 to purchase .26 acre of property located at 1079 S. Westpark Circle (A0030A I.G Belcher, Tr 26) which was obtained by Northwest ISD in a delinquent tax sale. Northwest holds the real estate in trust for itself, Denton County and the City. The property is assessed at $26,738. The amount of delinquent taxes due the City through January is $6,601.98. If approved, and after court cost and the funds are divided among all entities, the City would receive $2,307.55 from the sale. Northwest ISD has already approved this bid in an effort to return this property to the tax roll. Financial Considerations: Accept $2,307.55 as payment in full for the delinquent taxes due of $6,601.98 Strategic Link: F1 Adhere to financial management principles and budget Citizen Input/ Board Review: Not required Legal Review: City attorney has reviewed the resolution Alternatives: Approve or deny the resolution Supporting Documents: Resolution No. 13-010 Staff Recommendation: Approval of Resolution No.13-010 RESOLUTION NUMBER A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR THE SALE OF CERTAIN PROPERTY STRUCK OFF PURSUANT TO SECTION 34.01, TEXAS PROPERTY TAX CODE WHEREAS, Northwest Independent School District has acquired, as Trustee for Northwest ISD, Denton County and City of Southlake certain real estate property through the delinquent tax foreclosure process; WHEREAS, Northwest Independent School District holds the real estate in trust for itself, Denton County and City of Southlake; WHEREAS, the City of Southlake has received a bid on the rear estate property; WHEREAS, the City of Southlake has no desire to retain the real estate; WHEREAS, the City of Southlake desires that the property be returned to the tax roll; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Southlake, that: The bid received from BRAD ROWLAND in the amount of $7,700 for DCAD parcel #R149947 described as Abstract 30, I.G. Belcher Survey, .26 acres, Denton County, Texas, is hereby approved by the City Council of the City of Southlake and the Mayor of Southlake is hereby authorized to execute all necessary documents in connection with the sale.
