Members Present: Steve Barry, Frank Bliss, Peter Ermish, Santhosh Gandhari, Mike
Hutchison, J.C. Johnson, Bret Kidd, Randy McCauley, Tim Moorehead, Matt Schirle,
Chris Schrobilgen, Mack Zimmerman and Brian Zvonecek
Ex- Officio Members Present: Mayor John Terrell, CISD Superintendent Dr. David Faltys
Others Present: Councilmember Jeff Wang, Tourism Marketing Manager Jill Lind and
Economic Development & Tourism Administrative Secretary Denise Artho
1. Call to Order
Chairman McCauley called the meeting to order at 5:06 p.m.
2. Administrative Items
A. Self- introductions were made by new and existing members.
B. A motion to approve the minutes of the September 19, 2012 meeting was
made by Mike Hutchison and seconded by Mack Zimmerman, unanimous
approval.
C. Chairman McCauley pointed out future meeting dates: February 20, 2013;
April 17, 2013; and June 19, 2013.
3. Election of Officers
A. Voting members presented nominations for SBC Officer positions and
elections were held.
1. Matt Schirle was elected as Chair
2. Chris Schrobilgen was re- elected Vice -Chair
3. Santhosh Gandhari was elected Secretary
4. Presentation by Frank Bliss on the Challenges Facing Texas Public School
Education
Frank Bliss presented an overview on the challenges facing Texas public school
education. Mr. Bliss, as well as Dr. Faltys, addressed various questions and
comments after the presentation.

5. Review data on Types of Businesses from the business database
Randy McCauley asked members if they had any questions about the chart they
were provided via e-mail on the Types of Businesses, there were none.
6. Review results of One Minute Business Surveys
A. Jill Lind led a discussion on the One Minute Business Surveys.
1. October: "How important are these social media to the success of your
BUSINESS ?"
2. November: "To what extent do you use the following resources for
business information ?"
7. Discuss New Business Survey
Randy McCauley asked members if they had any suggestions for the New Business
Survey, there were none.
8. Open discussion on topics of interest to the SBC members
Members were asked if they had any topics of interest they would like to discuss and
there were no new discussions.
9. Discussion regarding future meeting topics
A. SBC was informed of the next proposed program on an overview of the
services and resources of the Department of Economic Development &
Tourism and incentives available for businesses. The members expressed
strong interest in the presentation and also asked that specific programs and
incentives for business attraction and retention be outlined and included in the
program.
10. Adjournment
A motion was made and seconded at 6:27 regarding adjournment, approved
unanimously.
