2000-06-06 Canvass of ElectionSPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING OFFICIAL CANVASS OF ELECTION 667 NORTH CARROLL AVENUE SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS JUNE 6, 2000 MINUTES COUNCILMEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Rick Stacy; Mayor Pro Tem Gary Fawks; Deputy Mayor Pro Tern Ronnie Kendall; Councilmember Greg Standerfer. COUNCILMEMBER ABSENT: Patsy DuPre and Wayne Moffat. CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Billy Campbell; Assistant City Manager Shana Yelverton; and, City Secretary Sandra L. LeGrand. Agenda Item #1, Call to Order Mayor Rick Stacy called the Special City Council meeting to order at 5:20 p.m., announcing the reason for the special meeting is to officially canvass the vote's cast at the Runoff Election held on June 3, 2000. Agenda Item #2, Resolution No. 00-50, Canvassing The Returns and Declaring the Results of the General Runoff'Election held on June 3, 2000. Mayor Stacy read into the record the results of the runoff election for Councilmember Place 2, held on June 3, 2000, noting that there were cast at early voting 572 votes and at said runoff election 1,207 votes were cast for a total votes of 1,779. The Mayor announced that Keith Shankland is hereby declared to have been elected to the Office of Councilmember Place 2, for a term to expire in May 2003. Keith Shankland received a total of 891 votes and Bob Williams received a total of 888 votes. Motion was made to approve Resolution No. 00-50, as presented, declaring Keith Shankland as the new Councilmember Place 2.
