2011-01-19 0 CITY OF SOUTHLAKE SOUTHLAKE BUSINESS COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES: JANUARY 19, 2011 LOCATION: 1400 Main Street, Southlake, Texas 76092 3rd Floor Training Rooms in Town Hall TIME: 5:00 p.m. Members Present: Traci Bernard, Frank Bliss, Peter Ermish, Mark Guilbert, Terrance Henderson, Mike Hutchison, Jeff Kennemer, Randy McCauley, Tim Moorehead, Jason Schmidt, Mike Tesoriero, Mack Zimmerman and Brian Zvonecek Ex- Officio Members Present: Southlake Chamber of Commerce President Dana Davis, Mayor's Advisory Committee Representative Clayton Reed, CISD Superintendent Dr. David Faltys, Assistant City Manager Jim Blagg, and Economic Development Director Greg Last Others Present: Councilmember Jeff Wang, Councilmember Carolyn Morris, Tourism Marketing Manager Jill Lind, Economic Development Administrative Secretary Denise Artho and Todd Lane with Gateway Church 1. Call to Order Chairman Frank Bliss called the meeting to order at 5:10 p.m. 2. Administrative Items A. A motion to approve the minutes of the October 20, 2010 meeting was made by Mike Hutchison and seconded by Jeff Kennemer, unanimous approval. B. Director Last pointed out the future meeting dates: March 16, May 18, July 20 C. Chamber of Commerce President Dana Davis briefed the members regarding the upcoming Chamber of Commerce Golf Tourney, May 16, 2011 3. Update on Super Bowl event on February 5, 2011 Jill Lind, Tourism Marketing Manager, gave an overview of the City's Super Bowl event. 4. Update on status of Economic Development & Tourism Strategic Plan Director Last gave an overview of the Economic Development & Tourism Strategic Plan. 5. Briefing on the Gateway Church campus development project Todd Lane presented an overview of Gateway Church campus development. Briefing on Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) 2011 business visitations Dana Davis and Greg Last led a discussion regarding the Chamber's implementation of a business visitation program as identified in the approved BRE Strategic Plan. A list of potential businesses to be visited was discussed as well as potential survey / interview questions. General direction provided: • Look at the possibility of implementing an on -line survey involving more businesses rather than a formal interview process • Reduce the number of questions • Scrub the questions as to number of answer options 7.
