Subject: RE: SPIN Meetings - Topic and Speaker Proposal
Hi Amanda,
I was able to speak with the SPIN Executive Committee and they agree that this would be a great
topic for a SPIN Forum. We would like to hold it in Council Chambers so that we could record the
meeting for playback on our Cable Channel and online on our website.
After looking at the calendar and the availability of the Council Chambers, it looks like the following
dates are the earliest options:
September 17 at 6:00 p.m. (Monday)
September 27 at 6:00 p.m. (Thursday)
Please fill out and return the attached form, providing a brief description of the purpose of the meeting
as well as who will be speaking. Please also note your preferred date.
Once I have the form, I’ll get to work on my end scheduling and promoting the meeting. I’ll also likely
have our Communication and Websites Manager, Pilar Schank, get in touch with you to discuss how
our communication office can support this initiative.
Have a great weekend,
Alison Ortowski

I would think so. We can draw from a number of our board members or our executive director to come and speak, so I’m
sure someone could be available. I look forward to hearing what the executive committee decides.
Thanks,

Hi Amanda,
I need to review this request with the SPIN Executive Committee. Our next meeting is August 2nd. I feel they
will be receptive to the request and will follow up with you after that meeting.
Looking at the schedule, we would probably be looking at a special meeting night for this type of forum - most
likely mid to end of August. Does that work for you?
Thanks,
Alison

Hello Alison,
I originally sent a SPIN speaker presentation proposal to Alicia Richardson, and she said she forwarded it
to you. I wanted to see if you’ve had an opportunity to review this yet or if I could answer any questions.
Below is what I sent Alicia for your reference.
Thanks!

Hello Alicia,
Can you help me learn more about how I can propose a special topic/speaker for a future SPIN meeting?
We are reaching out on behalf of the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition (TRTC), a non-profit
group represented by elected officials from Tarrant County and Fort Worth that are committed to finding
solutions to the mobility challenges facing the western half of the DFW Metroplex.
Our goal is to spur conversation amongst friends, neighbors, business colleagues, local leaders and state
government officials about our region’s urgent mobility needs – roadways, commuter rail and freight rail.
With the D/FW Connector and I-35W improvements impacting travel and trade to and from Southlake, we
would like to speak to SPIN members about the reasons to support the area’s transportation projects,
explain how they are funded and provide insight on what the state legislature is doing or the solutions it
needs to consider in order to address our region’s mobility issues.
TRTC would send the organization’s executive director, Vic Suhm, or a board member (typically an
elected official in county or city government) to speak about these topics.
We appreciate your consideration of our request. Feel free to visit www.trtcmobility.org to learn more
about our organization and please let us know if you have any questions.
