2012-04-24 CITY O F SOUTHLAKE SOUTHLAKE ARTS COUNCIL MEETING: April 24, 2012 LOCATION: 1400 Main Street, Southlake, Texas Southlake Town Hall — 3A Southlake Arts Council Members Present: Chair Leslie Bartlett, Vice Chair Carol Knox, Secretary Leslie Ann Walker and Southlake Arts Council members Jesika Cook, Merlene Ingraham and Terri Messing Southlake Arts Council Members Absent: Tammy Hashemian Staff Members Present: Assistant City Manager Jim Blagg and Deputy Director Community Services- Library Kerry McGeath Others Present: None Agenda Item No. 1 - Cali to Order: Chair Bartlett called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m. Agenda Item No. 2A — Consent: Approval of the minutes from the February 28, 2012 Southlake Arts Council meeting — There were no corrections to the minutes. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously (6 -0) approved to accept the minutes as corrected. Agenda Item No. 3A — Consider: Recommendation on permit for CISD Photography Exhibit in Department of Public Safety Headquarters May 1 -31, 2012 — Deputy Director McGeath presented the permit request and provided details about the scope of the exhibition. The item was discussed by the Southlake Arts Council. Advertising opportunities for the exhibit was briefly discussed. A motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved (6 -0) to recommend City Council approve the permit to display CISD Photography Exhibit May 1 -31, 2012 in DPS Headquarters lobby. City of Southlake Values: Integrity ♦ Innovation ♦ Accountability ♦ Commitment to Excellence ♦ Teamwork Minutes of the April 24, 2012 Southlake Arts Council Meeting Page 2 of 2 Agenda Item No. 4 — Discussion: Potential Events and Brainstorming a Schedule — Ideas about future events for the remainder of the year were discussed. A calendar of upcoming local and regional events was provided to help select possible times. September and February and perhaps a summer event offered the best possibilities. The Arts Council would like to host the 'Winter Arts in Town Hall" art show again around the February 19 weekend and a photography exhibit with a reception and entertainment in September. Terri Messing will work on a list for the next Arts Council meeting. The Arts Council talked about creating guidelines for artist submittals to ensure suitable artwork is displayed in Town Hall. Agenda Item No. 5 - Public Forum: No one was present to address the Arts Council. Larin Hansen, student from Denton, was attended the Arts Council meeting for extra credit in her American Government class.
