Regionalization of Animal Control services with City of Keller and City of Colleyville
Effective October 1, 2012
Similar to Jail/Dispatch agreement
City of Keller will directly provide animal control services and will house detained pets in their shelter facility.
Southlake will amend animal control ordinance to require registration of dogs.
Service Level Improvements
Keller will hire Southlake’s Field Service Officer as one of three Animal Control Officers.
Agreement provides full time and on-call animal control coverage, including nights and weekends
Improvement on Citizen Survey Gap Issue
Short Term Financial Information
Short Term Annual Cost: $66,542
Savings of $15,677 over current animal control expenditures
Represents 26% of Keller’s total animal control costs.
Additional feral hog overtime expense
Agreement will change upon completion of new facility
Future Shelter
Keller plans to construct a new Animal Shelter scheduled to be complete in October 2014
9,400 square foot facility
Southlake will contribute $11,000 in capital costs each year once the facility is complete.
