CITY 01 SOUTHLAKE Department of Planning & Development Services STAFF REPORT June 13, 2012 CASE NO: SV12 -010 PROJECT: Sign Variance for The Grove Temporary Sign REQUEST: Dove 114 Infinity L.L.C. is requesting a variance to the Sign Ordinance No. 704 -F requirements for sign height and sign area for a temporary land sign. Specifically, the applicant is requesting an extension on the approval of the existing temporary sign for The Grove, a future mixed use development, located at 500 W. S.H. 114; at the southeast corner of W. Dove Street and West S.H. 114. The sign was originally approved by City Council on August 21, 2007; and extended in 2010 for two years. The applicant is requesting a renewal for two additional years. S.H. 114. February 2006 — City Council approved sign variances for Aventerra signs on this site. In 2007, the sign face was changed to The Grove. August 21, 2007 - City Council approved a large temporary sign for The Grove for a period of 1 year (SP07- 233A). This is the sign referred to by this extension application. August 3, 2010 — City Council approved an extension of the previously approved variance for a period of 2 years. There are two other land signs on this property that measure 4' x 8' which do not require a variance approval and are allowed by ordinance to stay up until a building permit is issued. The sign criteria, site plan and application are attached to this report.
