Item 4B Audio♦ � SOUTHLAKE l0 Item 413, Approve the odor control agreement with Premier Chemicals, LLC Recommended Action Approve an annual agreement for providing odor control treatment at lift stations with Premier Chemicals, LLC in the amount of $125,512 Staff recommends that the city council approve an annual agreement for providing odor control treatment at lift stations with Premier Chemicals, LLC in the amount of $126,512 Ir Lift Station Odor Control Background: • Shady Lane & Lonesome Dove lift stations built in 2000 • Six years successful performance • Contractor owns /maintains equipment • Guarantees rate of $2.53/gal for 12- months • Annually - $104,350 - $120,512 Since the construction of the Shady Lane and Lonesome Dove Sanitary Sewer Lift Stations in 2000, the city has spent approximately $90,000 per year to prevent hydrogen sulfide production in the sewer system from affecting the residents of the Kirkwood Hollow neighborhood. Premier Chemicals has been providing this service for Southlake and Trinity River Authority since 2006 because previous attempts to control the hydrogen sulfide with other products were not successful. This agreement with Premier Chemicals includes their the first price increase since 2008 to maintain the equipment on site and deliver their product for $2.53 a gallon for the next twelve months. At present sewer flow rates Southlake uses about 125 gallons of product per day bringing our annual total no to exceed $126,512 3 Lift Station Odor Control Financial Consideration: • Funding — FY 2012 Sewer Division operating budget • Premier Chemicals is the patent holder for this technology • Successful technology for odor & grease Funding for odor control treatment at the two lift stations is provided in the fiscal year 2012 operating budget of the Sewer Division. Premier Chemicals is the patent holder of this waste water treatment technology. The use of concentrated Magnesium Hydroxide is the only known technology for stopping the production of Hydrogen Sulfide gas and preventing the accumulation of grease in the sewer lift stations. The award of this purchase agreement links to the city's strategy map relative to the focus areas of Performance Management and Service Delivery.
