Item 4DM E M O R A N D U M (May 15, 2012) To:Shana K. Yelverton, City Manager From:Robert H. Price, P.E., DirectorofPublic Works Subject:Approve naming of Westwood Connectoras Wood Way Action Requested: Approve naming of Westwood Connectoras Wood Way. Background Information: The Woodland Heights connector road was designed and constructed to give the residents of the Woodland Heights subdivision access to South Village Center Drive in order to have a controlled intersection. The main entrance into the Woodland Heights subdivision is Westwood Dr. at Southlake Boulevard. There is a median located in Southlake Boulevard that prevents the residents from making a left turn into or out of the subdivision. Since the roadway was constructed by the City of Southlake, Council has the rights to name the road. Staff recommends Wood Way as the new name for the connector road recently constructed by city forces between Village Center Drive and Westwood Drive. Financial Considerations: The cost associated with the naming of this street will be the cost of manufacturing the two street name signs at Village Center Drive and Westwood Drive. The cost is estimated at approximately $150. Strategic Link: The Woodland Heights Connector project links to the city’s strategy map relative to the focus areas of Mobility, Infrastructure, and Performance Management and Service Delivery. The specific corporate objectives that are met by this construction project include: Providing travel convenience within city and region; Providing high quality customer service; and Investing to provide and maintain high quality public assets. Citizen Input/ Board Review: N/A Legal Review: There is no legal review required Alternatives: The Council may approve a name for the Woodland Heights connector roadas Wood Way or approve any other name.
