UPCOMING VERIZON FIBER OPTIC INSTALLATION
MONDAY, JUNE I4, 2004 7:00 P.M.
SOUTHLAKE TOWN MALL TRAINING ROOMS #3A AND #3B
SUMMARY OF QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
What services will do you plan to offer with this technology?
How fast are the data speeds?
What is the highest data speed? What is the upstream speed?
So you are in the field right now in Keller? How many accounts do you have there?
Do you replace the existing telephone lines?
Have you installed this fiber in a neighborhood in Southlake?
On the neighborhoods that have fiber, are you simply going to replace the fiber drops?
Basically every neighborhood will have boring and digging at some point?
What is the timing on this project? When you say that service is available by the end of the
year, does that mean to you will be done with construction prior to offering the service?
What do you do when a backhoe hits the lines?
What is directional boring? Explain what this means.
Nothing will be constructed above ground?
I'm asking you to backup a bit here. What is the benefit to us with this construction? Will
this improve telephone service, cable service, cellular service, cable modem service? What is
the benefit to the customer from what you are doing here?
What is the maximum capacity you can offer? So the fiber will not be obsolete in the future?
If you are an existing DSL customer, what will be the cost for switching to this new service?
What are the current DSL costs now?
Is this only for Verizon customers only?
One Source has cable service, cable modem service, caller i.d., etc. for $55 month; will you
have something comparable to this package?
They have installed this fiber in my yard already, and I asked the Verizon guy when service
would be available and the guy told me in about a month. Are you going to wait until you
are done with all the construction prior to offering some type of service or will it be offered
on a house -by -house basis?
How big are these "blowholes" you describe?
For a subdivision of 190 homes, how long will it take to complete your work in that
subdivision?
How many crews are going to be working?
In my neighborhood the fiber is already installed, but I have telephone routed in the back of
the house. When you re -route to the fiber, will you have to go around the house? Will the
wiring have to be done to accommodate the technology?
How do you plan to notify the customer that service is available and construction is
complete?
Do you have a directional assault plan for this project?
So north of 114 will be last in construction priority by your plan?
You say there will be 4 trunks in the City? If 1709 is one trunk, where are the other 3 trunks
located?
How are you prioritizing the rollout here, as Southlake has areas that have no service? Are
these areas prioritized in construction because they have no service?

SUMMARY OF QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS
Will there be homes in the City that will be told that they are too far from the nearest
connection line to draw service?
Explain again how service will be available upon completion of the construction in a
neighborhood.
For a dial tone service, where do you plan to get the power from? On this battery, will the
power be from the house? So the phone service is dependent upon the home as a power
source?
There are areas of the City that don't have Verizon. So, where is that cutoff line located in
the City?
This will bring HDTV capability? Are you trying to get a cable franchise agreement?
Are you requiring a dedicated electric circuit in the house? Is it a 20 volt circuit? Is this
going to be included in the letter that you are going to send out?
If the neighborhood is all aria] utility lines, do you still plan to go underground with this
installation?
Is there a choice of Internet Service Providers (ISP) available?
So once the fiber is in the ground, you will maintain both the copper and the fiber? If so, for
how long to you plan to maintain both?
Do you see any problems with blocking FM 1709 traffic while you construct this trunk?
How many miles of fiber are you laying for Southlake?
Will you be pulling the copper wire out of the ground with the intent of recycling it?
How are they going to trench from the drop -box to the house? How deep is this trench?
So this is a vibration crease? So there will be no danger of cutting other lines like gas,
sprinkler, etc?
Since we couldn't see your presentation tonight, will it be available on the City website for
review?
They were nearly complete with boring when the letter went out in our neighborhood the last
time you did work there. Please get the letter out in advance of construction on this project.
What is the brand of the electronics?
Are you always going in front of the homes?
If we are in a neighborhood that does not have curbs and gutters, are you going to come
through using existing easements or are you going to come in from the back of the property?
The opinion of the homeowners that I talked to from what we had heard was that they were
going to dig through Southlake in order to provide service to Keller this was a concern in
the neighborhood and you should work with the Fort Worth Star Telegram. and Dallas
Morning News to correct that presumption.
Just as a recommendation, the questions for future meetings will most likely be: 1) when is
service going to be available; 2) when are they conning into my neighborhood; and 3) what is
the service levels and applicable pricing.
