Signs along Carroll Ave between Southlake Blvd and SH 114 were identified by the Wayfinding Sign Committee to be the highest priority, thus six signs along Carroll Ave are proposed to be the first wayfinding signs installed in Southlake. QUESTIONS CONCERNS Are these signs lit? o No, they are retro reflective Will we be utilizing these signs to advertise our city SPIN meetings? o No, the SPIN Committee has made a recommendation for a more permanent solution. We may want to incorporate similar design using the Urban Design Plan to create a theme. What about local hospitals? o The international "H" is used if the hospital has an emergency room component. Specific hospitals are not a part of this program. These signs will be used for shopping, schools, municipal buildings, hotel, etc. What about trees that are planted in the medians. What will happen if they obstruct the view of these signs? o Any trees that need to be removed will be transplanted. What about signs that designate an upcoming intersection? o We have considered those signs and categorized them as medium priority. Will there be any opportunity for corporate sponsorship? o All funding opportunities are being explored, however, these signs will not have any commercials messages on them. These projects will utilize reforestation funds: Hwy 114 Trees Project (TxDOT Gov Achieve Award) Kimball Medians (Hwy 114 to Hwy 26) East Dove Rd. Electrical Station Bicentennial Park Frontage DPS West McPherson Park Tennis Center Parkwood Drive (north side buffer) Pearson Storage Tanks Diamond Estates 1709 Frontage QUESTIONS CONCERNS Will the berms be closer to the roadway? o Yes, everything has to be close to the roadway. The right -of -way is very narrow. We may be able to get right -of -way to obtain more area. Drift roses would be beautiful in the tennis court beds. What is the timing on these projects? o Some are already started; others will occur as weather permits. Town Square projects will be completed prior to the holidays. Most other projects will be completed during Spring and early Summer of next year. The Keep Southlake Beautiful awarded financial grant will be used for SH 114 areas. The City will be working with contractors to free up staff time for landscape management. Have you considered plants in the medians that will absorb the impact of a car crash? o Yes, TxDOT should have information for compatible plants.
