28 Commissioner Hudson asked if the size of the tent had changed and if the applicant has
29 requested multiple years.

31 Lorrie Fletcher, Planner I, stated that the tent size has not changed and the applicant
32 has requested a three year allowance.

34 Commissioner Williamson asked if the tent has always stayed up for an additional 2
35 days after Valentine's Day.

39 The applicant, Gary Huddleston, 3213 Wilbarger Trl., Southlake, TX 76092, Director of
40 Consumer Affairs and Nicholas Kaufman, Store Manager came forward.

42 Mr. Huddleston expressed his gratitude for the special meeting. This event is held all
43 over the metroplex. Estimated sales for the Southlake store are projected to be $30,000
44 to $40,000 just from the tent sales. In regards to the tent staying up for an additional 2
45 days is to give the tent company time to remove the tent. No sales will continue after
46 Valentine's Day.

50 Commissioner Springer suggested that we give the applicant 5 years.

52 Commissioner Hamel mentioned the specific regulations that state all outdoor sales are valid for 1
53 year after approval from City Council. Commissioner Hamel is concerned that the Board is violating
54 that regulation.

56 Chairman Faglie stated that the applicant must submit annually.

58 Lorrie Fletcher mentioned that the property owner has approved the annual use for a 3 year period.

60 Made a motion to approve ZAl2 -005, Specific Use Permit to allow a tent for the purpose of
61 promoting retail sales at Kroger Food Store #512 for a 3 year period subject to the staff report
62 dated January 26, 2012.
