HomeGoodsis requesting a variance to Sign Ordinance 704, as amended, to allow an
attached sign that exceedsthe allowable width. The store will be located at 200 N. Kimball
Avenue, Ste 228; between the Staples store and Toys-R-Us / Babies-R-Us store. The
location is within the Southlake Corners Development which has an approved conditional
sign permit, however, the permit does not address the standard for attached signs that
requires the sign be located within the middle 75% of the single plane façade. Therefore,
the Sign Ordinance regulations shall be followed.

The applicant is proposing a sign that exceeds the allowable width by 4%. The façade
allows for a sign that is 33.19 feet wide; the proposed sign is 35 feet.
*The lease space is 28,000 square feet which allows for 60 inch letters… HomeGoods
proposed sign is in compliance (60 inches)
** The max area allowed is 250 square feet… HomeGoodsproposed sign is in compliance
(175 square feet)

There have been two sign variances issuedwithin the same Southlake Corners
Development:
November 16, 2010, City Council approved a variance for McAlisterson Consent which
allowed them to exceed allowable area.
February 15, 2011, City Council approved a variance for Toys-R-Us/ Babies-R-Us as
presented which allowed them exceed letter height (specifically, the R’s) and maximum
width.
