PROJECT: Variance to the Sign Ordinance 704, as amended, for
HomeGoods
REQUEST:
HomeGoods is requesting a variance to the sign ordinance 704, as amended, for
maximum attached sign width.
On the front elevation, the applicant is requesting a variance to the requirement
that an attached sign is limited in width to 75% of the single plane façade; which in
this case allows approximately 33.2 feet. The proposed sign measures 35 feet in
width or 79% of the single plane facade.

At the City Council meeting held on January 3, 2012, the applicant requested to
table this item until the next scheduled City Council meeting to be held on January
17, 2012. The applicant proposed to return to the next City Council meeting with
revisions to the front (east) elevation for City Council to consider in addition to this
sign variance request. Staff will forward these revisions upon receiving them from
the applicant.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
APPLICANT: HomeGoods
OWNER: Inland Southwest Management LLC
PROPERTY SITUATION: The property address is 200 North Kimball Avenue, Ste 228.
HISTORY: The Southlake Corners Conditional Sign Permit (SP04-050) was approved
by City Council on April 6, 2004. The Conditional Sign Permit does not
address the regulation for allowable width on a single plane façade,
therefore, the sign must comply with the Sign Ordinance 704, as amended.
STAFF COMMENTS: The sign criteria and application are attached to this report.
COUNCIL ACTION: January 3, 2012; Tabled (7-0) to the January 17, 2012 regular City Council
meeting.
