Bill Cosgrove, Connie Montague, Jerry Montague Tom Furey
MEMBERS AND ALTERNATES ABSENT: Chairperson, Jeane Alexander, Darla Lattimore
EX OFFICIO MEMBERS AND GUESTS PRESENT: Sonja Allen, MMOW
STAFF PRESENT: Nona Whitehead, Community Services Coordinator
Agenda Item No.l, Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Vice Chair David Baltimore at 1:15 p.m.
Agenda Item No. 2, Approval of the 8/8/2000 Minutes
Jerry Montague made a motion to approve the August 8, 2000 minutes. The motion was
seconded by Linda Moore and approved unanimously.
Agenda Item No. 3. Administrative Comments
Nona Whitehead noted that contracts for Scope of Services were being sent out soon for review
by the organizations and noted two proposed changes for the MMOW contract. Suggested
changes would allow MMOW the option to provide crafts but not require them in contract
language. The other change would allow MMOW to have the option to recover more of their
meal costs by not guaranteeing a free meal for each potluck dish.
Nona also presented a summary of the Thursday meal program, explaining that in addition to the
program cost of $8 in prize meals, the food supplement cost is less than $10 per week.
Agenda Item No. 4, Report: Metroport Meals on Wheels
Sonja Allen presented the data for August, noting that attendance is improving and that the large
supplies figure was due to not having purchased much all summer.
Sonja also informed the Commission that MMOW has a new Executive Director named Martha
King.
Agenda Item No. 5. Report: Southlake Seniors
Tom Furey reported on August activities. Tom felt that the trip to the Kimbell Art Museum was
a highlight of the month.
Agenda Item No. 6. Open Forum
David Baltimore asked if there was interest in having a staff report on the City of Southlake
budget and how it impacts seniors. The consensus was that such a presentation would be of
interest, not only to the Commission, but also to other Southlake senior residents and should be
considered. Nona was asked to request a presentation. David also asked if the Commission

wanted to have Terry McLaughlin speak about progress on the future library. The Commission
members felt that would be very important and asked Nona to try to arrange this presentation for
the October meeting. Nona suggested that the request for a budget presentation might require a
longer time frame to arrange to allow staff time for such a specific interpretation of the budget.
There being no further bus' ess the meeting was adjourned at 1:53 p.m.
