2 Agenda Item No. 4 - Public Forum.

4 The Public Forum was opened at 6:15 pm. As there was no one to speak, it was closed
5 at 6:16 pm.

7 Agenda Item No. 5 - Consider - Election of Southlake Arts Council Officers for 2009-10.

9 After some discussion, a motion was made, seconded and unanimously approved to
10 delay the elections until the August 25, 2009 meeting.

12 DISCUSSION:

14 Agenda Item No. 6Aa- Discussion. - Public Arts Projects - Installation of Art in Rustin
15 Park - Presentation by Terri Messing.

17 A PowerPoint presentation was provided by Terri Messing detailing the variety of visual
18 art that might be available to be placed at various locations throughout the City. There
19 was discussion about where funding is found and for what it can be used. The Arts
20 Council has a blank slate as to how Arts will be handled. There was discussion about
21 what thought processes the Council has had to date. There was discussion about
22 targeting McPherson Park as the place for sculptures. Roundabout art needs to be
23 delayed until more construction is finished.

25 The City is interested in a Community Center for the City and is considering
26 possibilities. The City has a good relation with the CISD art teachers, which can provide
27 future possibilities for collaboration. Money from the Hotel tax needs to be used to
28 purchase art that would draw people to the City.

30 Agenda Item No. 6Ab - Discussion. - Public Arts Protects - Possible "wrap" protects.

32 Deputy Director McGeath presented an opportunity for a low level art project that would
33 involve the wrapping of traffic lights regulators with art similar to the program in North
34 Richland Hills. This will be discussed further at the next meeting.

36 Agenda Item No. 6B - Discussion. - Master Plan Work Group Review and Interaction

38 This presentation will be delayed until the next meeting after some updating is done in
39 the meantime.
