The benifits of a wayfinding sign system in Southlake are to:
Promote tourism
Emphasize Southlake as a destination
Highlight/market key attractions
Enhance urban design
Reinforce community identity
Enhance the visitor’s experience
Reduce driver and pedestrian frustration
Improve traffic flow
Improve roadway safety.
In FY 2011 the City Council appropriated $50,000 (Hotel Occupancy Tax Funds) for
the installation of Phase I of the signage program. In the spring of 2011, the City
selected FSG to fabricate and install the signage. During this past summer, Phase I
signage was installed along Carroll Avenue and the SH 114 frontage road.
Staff is recommending that the contact with FSG be extended for the fabrication and
installation of phases II & III of the program based on the outstanding performance
of this company in the fabricating and installation of the phase I program. City
Council is expected to approve the recommended wayfinding signage priority list
for Phase II & III at its January 20 th meeting. No price increase from the previous
contract is anticipated for the fabrication or installation of the signage for the
upcoming phases.
