EXECUTIVE SESSION: If a need arises to seek the advice from the City Attorney as to the posted
subject matter of this Board of Adjustment meeting, the issues or matters will be discussed in
executive session.
1. Pursuant to Section 551.071, Texas Government Code, the Board may meet in executive
session to consult with the City Attorney regarding matters authorized by Section 551.071,
including matters posted on this agenda.

4. Consider: ZBA-579, Special Exception Use Permit per Ordinance No. 480, Section 44.12
(1) for a family quarters. The applicant is proposing to construct a family quarters
with approximately 1,440 square feet of livable floor space in an addition to the
principal structure. The property is located at 4323 Homestead Dr., being
described as Lot 19, Indian Creek Estates, an addition to the City of Southlake,
Denton County, Texas, and being approximately 1.03 acres. The current zoning
is "SF1-A" Single Family Residential District. Applicant: Orville H. Jansen. SPIN
Neighborhood #1.

55 The applicants, Orville and Donna Jansen 4323 Homestead Drive, Southlake, Texas, once
56 sworn in presented items and answered questions for the Board.

58 Chairman Parrish opened the public hearing at 7:06 p.m.

60 Cara White, 4475 Homestead Drive, Southlake, Texas, once sworn in spoke in opposition,
61 stating that the structure would be too tall, too many trees would be lost because of the location
62 of the driveway, setbacks would be encroached upon, and she felt the present septic system
63 would be too small to accommodate the addition.

65 Chairman Parrish asked if there was anyone else to speak and then called the applicant back to
66 the podium to address concerns. The Jansen's requested to table ZBA Case # 579 until the
67 next meeting on September 24, 2009 to bring additional information.

70 September 24, 2009 meeting.
