Staff recommends approval of the agreement with Facility Solutions Group to
upgrade the remaining decorative fixtures at three intersections of State Highway
114 in the amount of $57,512
2
When State Highway 114 was reconstructed about 10 years ago, the City of
Southlake chose to upgrade the signal poles and lighting at the major intersections.
In doing so, we agreed to accept responsibility for the maintenance, repair and
replacement of the decorative fixtures at these intersections. Over time the original
fixtures have become very unreliable and quite expensive to repair. Last year we
budgeted money to retrofit the North Carroll intersection with new 85 watt induction
fixtures provided by Facility Solutions Group. Because we are pleased with the
appearance and performance of the new lights we requested funding to retrofit the
remaining 36 fixtures at West Dove Rd, North White Chapel Blvd, and North Kimball
Ave.

on the left and the replacement fixture at the North Carroll intersection on the right.
In addition to being a more energy efficient fixture, the glass globes on the
replacement lamps will not discolor or melt like the plastic globes.

The location map shows the three remaining intersections to be retrofitted under the
proposed agreement.

Materials and labor for the lighting upgrade project is available through the Buy
Board cooperative purchasing program. Facility Solutions Group has the current
Buy Board contract for these services in the amount of $57,512 for the retrofit of 36
fixtures. Funding for the project is available in the 2012 operating budget of the
Street Division.

Theapproval of this project links to the city’s strategy map relative to the focus
areas of Infrastructure. The specific corporate objective that is met by the project is:
Invest to provide and maintain high quality public assets
