Item 4K Item 4K – Resolution No. 11-053 December 6, 2011 Tarrant Appraisal District Board of Directors Functions Establish the appraisal district’s appraisal office Adopt the appraisal district’s annual operating budget Contract for necessary services Hire a chief appraiser Hire a taxpayer liaison officer (in counties having a population of over 125,000) Appoint Appraisal Review Board Members and other committees provided by law Make general policies on the Appraisal District’s operations. How are Board of Directors Selected Each year entities (municipalities and school districts) located within the county may submit nominees for consideration Board members are appointed by a vote of the appraisal district taxing units Each entity has an allotted number of votes, determined by the previous year levy to cast their vote from the list of candidates The candidate receiving the most votes will become a member of the Board of Directors Cast Allotted Number of Votes The City of Southlake has 47 votes that may be cast collectively or separately. City Council may elect to cast all votes for one candidates or split votes among six candidates.
