Background
Current system installed 1999; will no longer be supported and the only option is to upgrade.

3M Sole Source vendor for Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID) system
RFID uses circuitry tags to identify, check in/check out items from Library
Last year Library check out 364,000 items
RFID compatible with existing operation software system
Background
The project will include upgraded software, hardware, security gates and new RFID tags
The upgrade is more sustainable then the current system:
No server is needed with new software
The cost of the RFID tags drops from .81 cents per tag to .25 cents
Dramatically reduced staff time necessary to program the new tags.
