Call to Order — The meeting was called to order by Chairman 26 Baltimore at 1:10 p.m. 27 28 Agenda Item No. 2. Discussion 29 30 A. Guest Presentation — City of Southlake Teen Court Coordinator Kristin 31 White addressed the Commission about the role of the Teen Court plays 32 in the judicial system. Offenders are allowed to work off fines and court 33 costs. 75% of the offenses are traffic violations and the Teen Court has 34 had an 88% success rate. Teen Court is presently looking for donations of 35 used cell phones and used eyeglasses. 36 37 B. Metroport Meals on Wheels Report — Darla Fowler presented the MMOW 38 report. Thanksgiving luncheon will be held the week of November 14 and 39 there will not be a lunch served the week of November 21. December 13 40 will be the Christmas luncheon. No lunch will be served December 20. CARS Report — Mr. McCauley gave the CARS report. Participation is up. 2 There were 165 riders last month. CARS has had some turnover in 3 drivers. CARS now has 22 drivers. Medical trips were down last month. 4 Neal Perkins was introduced as Mr. McCauley's replacement on the 5 CARS board effective January 1, 2012. 6 7 D. Southlake Steering Committee — Bernie McCauley presented a report. 8 SSFI has requested a loan of $800 to pay an insurance bill. Goodwill 9 ambassadors' schedule was passed out and programming was discussed. 10 11 E. Facilities Update — Current & Future /New — There was no report. 12 13 F. Southlake Senior Funding, Inc. — Dick McCauley provided a report to the 14 Commission. Mr. McCauley and Ms. Sporn provided information about the 15 meetings with donors. Both meeting went well and SSFI is hopeful for 16 favorable outcomes. Mike Tilbury is working to get some operating funds 17 so SSFI can pay back the loan from the Steering Committee. 18 19 G. City Manager's Office — Communications & Website Manager Pilar 20 Schank reported on the survey being conducted by the City that is on the 21 website and will be available until the end of the month. Invitations to the 22 Boards and Commissions Appreciation Reception on November 19, 2011 23 at Town Hall were distributed. The new police chief will start to work at 24 Southlake November 14. 25 26 H. Guest Schedule — The following guests were selected to be invited to 27 attend the monthly SAC meeting as guest speakers: 28 29 1. John Slocum, Parks Board Chairman 30 2. Martin Schelling, Southlake City Council member 31 3. Steve Mylett, new Chief of Police 32 4. Kyle Taylor, EMS, Asst. to the Director 33 5. Harris & Baylor Services Representative 34 35 Agenda Item No. 3A. Consider — There were no items for this meeting. 5 6 There was discussion about the benefit of having people sign in at the Center so that 7 the number of users /attendees can be counted.
