Subject: Approve a permit for the Southlake Arts Council to allow public display in
the Town Hall lobby area of the renderings of the sculptures that will be
installed in four City roundabout intersections
Action
Requested: City Council approval of a permit to display renderings of sculptures
that will be installed in four City intersection roundabouts in Town
Hall November 2 — November 30, 2011.
Background
Information: The Display of Public Arts Policy requires a Permit for Southlake
Arts Council recommendation and City Council approval to display
art or hold a performance in City facilities.
In line with the Display of Public Arts Policy, a permit was submitted
by the Southlake Arts Council and subsequently recommended for
approval by the Southlake Arts Council at their October 6, 2011
meeting.
The display will cover less than 30% of the wall space and will not
have any floor panels. The Permit meets the provisions of the
Display of Public Arts Policy.

Considerations: N/A
Strategic Link: This Permit is linked to the City Council Focus Areas of Quality
Development and Partnerships and Volunteerism. The Permit also
addresses the corporate objectives of providing attractive and
unique spaces for enjoyment of personal interests and providing
opportunities for partnerships and volunteer involvement.
Citizen Input/
Board Review: Southlake Arts Council unanimously recommended approval (5 -0)
of the display October 6, 2011.

City Attorney.

Type of Display or performance: Visual Arts Display of Artists' Renderings of Sculptures that will
be installed at four Roundabout intersections in Southlake

performance, including planned activities or any equipment /special needs: The exhibit is hosted by
Southlake Arts Council and will include 8 -10 pieces to be hung in individual panels. Nothing will be on the
floor; all will be hung from the walls. The display will not exceed over 30% of the wall space.
