o Program and Event Updates
• Jam Session on Thursday nights with Sonny Cate and the Texas Jammers brings in a large audience
of approximately 50.
• The Southlake Library continues to pick up and deliver books for our seniors' convenience.
• Tuesday MMOW luncheon, with games prior, serves approximately 100 seniors weekly.
• The Artisan Theatre continues to be a favorite choice for dinner and a play.
• Our senior ladies modeled at The Fashion Show hosted by Coldwater Creek.
• It was our first time attending Ms. Texas Senior Classic, with one of our seniors placing as third
runner up.
• Area Agency on Aging of Tarrant County continues to be a very good resource for us. It has offered
several seminars with information on living with chronic conditions and a fall prevention and
exercise program.
• We are always booking special musical guests as these are very popular. They include Norris Perry,
Tommy Chandler and Paul Anderson.
• The Senior Activity Center, in conjunction with SSFI, has joined forces with the Food Donation
Connection. We continue to pick up surplus pastries from Starbucks twice a week.
• CARS is always seeking more drivers. With the increased numbers, they are also seeking volunteers
so drivers do not experience the wear out factor.
• We hosted a booth and attended Empowering Seniors 2011, Senior Jamboree, and cultural interests.
• A Matter of Balance, an eight week course provided by Area Agency on Aging, was well received.
