For the entire time ( have lived on Morgan Road, my electric power has been in peril every time a raindrop falls in the neighborhood, the wind blows or the sun shines. After a few years, I had called TXU so many times that an employee finally noticed the frequency of my calls noting power outages, that he had an automatic notice box attached to my house. Every time the power went out, the box notified TXU of the outage. For about 5 further years they monitored my power outages and were amazed how often it was off. They came out and replaced all the insulators in the affected area, and removed my automatic notice box. There is a group of about 80 homes that experience this outage every time. We are on the end of a run, and something is critically wrong with the structure of this line. It is not due to lightening, crossed wires, foliage or any other simple and usual problem associated with normal and reasonable power outages. This is a real system malfunction that happens over and over and over. This insulator change -out effort helped a little at first, but unfortunately, did not cure the problem or address the root of the problem. The last several years have been an increasing nightmare in unreliable service. Just to mention a couple of instances (certainly not even close to all): August of 2009 this same group of about 80 homes experienced a power outage that lasted 3 days. All of the food in the freezers and refrigerators were ruined. It was August and life became quite uncomfortable, to say the (east. Then, the following February of 2010, this same group plus a few more, experienced another 3 day power outage... this time it was freezing with snow on the ground and somewhat perilous for life and structure, not to mention uncomfortable. Last month in August the power was again off for approximately 18 hours and again just last night, after a calm, pleasant, much needed straight down rain, the power went off again for approximately 5 hours after coming on twice in spurts of electric power only to go off again before we could even blow out the candles. Everyone in this section, as outlined in my map of the Cross Timber Hills area, has experienced numerous appliance failures, expenditures of loss food, expenditures of costly generators, and extreme discomfort due to these injurious electric surges and outages. In the case of this summer, we can have a drought and electric power or we can rain in the dark! We don't need the ice cream truck to tinkle down the street we need the alert bell on the truck supplied with batteries, candles, and diesel fuel! Enough is enough! I submit a petition signed by most of the injured parties, we are here at City Hall to protest to our elected officials to help us in any way possible, and we are headed for the Public Utility Commission to request our power lines be rebuilt and /or that we be allowed to go to Tri- County Power. We will be asking the PUC to fine TXU /Oncor and that money to be appropriated to Tri- County to help them enable our power structure to work - for a change. Just last week, Oncor said," We have checked the system and everything is fine." These 80 households can attest; Everything is not fine! And a simple tree - trimming project will not make everything finer. There is truly a systematic failure in these lines and Oncor is either unwilling or cannot fix it. I, and my neighbors, appreciate any and all help you can provide to alleviate our distress over this problem. Sincerely, Pat Moore 1221 Morgan Rd.
