January 18, 2011:
Resolution No. 11-005 adopted, 180-day Moratorium on the acceptance and processing of applications for gas well drilling permits and their associated requests.
Provide staff time to explore / propose ordinance revisions
July 17, 2011:
Expiration date of current moratorium
Basis for the Extension
Allow City Council adequate time to review and discuss the proposed ordinance changes proposed by staff/attorney office.
Allow the public adequate time to review the proposed changes and provide public comment.
Allow the City Attorney’s office adequate time to review recently approved legislation and the impact that this legislation may have on the City’s ability to regulate drilling operations.
Allow the proposed ordinance changes to proceed through the public process – SPIN, 1st and 2nd reading
