Blagg, Assistant City Manager /Director of Public Safety 41 -1 Subject: Approve a permit for the Bob Jones Nature Center Organization to allow public display of the 2011 BJNCP Photo Contest photos in the Town Hall Lobby Action Requested: City Council approval of a permit from the Bob Jones Nature Center Organization to display art work in the Town Hall lobby during July. The display will exhibit contestant submittals from the annual Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve Photo Contest. Background Information: The Display of Public Arts Policy requires a Permit for Southlake Arts Council recommendation and City Council approval to display art or hold a performance in City facilities. In line with the Display of Public Arts Policy, the Bob Jones Nature Center Organization, which is a non - profit organization and is actively involved with management and operation of the City's nature center, has submitted a Permit to display the entries received in this year's Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve Photo Contest in the Town Hall lobby for one month this summer. The display will cover less than 30% of the floor space and will not have any wall panels. The Permit meets the provisions of the Display of Public Arts Policy. Financial Considerations: N/A Strategic Link: This Permit is linked to the City Council Focus Areas of Quality Development and Partnerships and Volunteerism. The Permit also addresses the corporate objectives of providing attractive and unique spaces for enjoyment of personal interests and providing opportunities for partnerships and volunteer involvement.
