Town Hall Weatherproofing
Background:
—Town Hall constructed in 1999
• Refurbished hand rails last fall
• Reset damaged steps late winter
—Weatherproofing South Elevation
• Reseal all windows
• Restore cracked grout and mortar
• Seal masonry surfaces
• Re -grout north & south granite steps
Since the construction of the Town Hall building in 1999, very little maintenance has
been done to the exterior of the building. During the current fiscal year all the hand
rails around the building were refurbished and painted. The granite stairs on the
north side of the building were also repaired following damage caused by water
penetration. This project will address the entire south surface of the building. All
the original water sealants will be removed and replaced, as well as any cracked
mortar. In addition, all the mortar on the granite steps for both the north and south
entrances will be removed and replaced with an elastic material to allow for
expansion and prevent water penetration.

Other Considerations:
— Scaffolding required
—Completion expected by Oct. 31, 2011
Financial Consideration:
— Funding for this project is available
• Strategic Initiative Fund - $100,000.00
• Facility Services FY -11 Budget - $42,786.56
In order to complete this work, scaffolding will have to be set up on the south side of
the building in order to reach many of the problem areas which need to be
addressed. We estimate that this project should be completed no later than the end
of October, 2011. $100,000 in funding for this project is provided in the Strategic
Initiative Fund and the balance will come from this year's operating budget for
facility maintenance division.
