Subject: Resolution No. 11 -028, Appoint a Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy
Mayor Pro Tem
Action
Requested: Appoint a Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem for a term of
one year.
Background
Information: Pursuant to Section 2.07 of the City Charter, the Mayor shall, with
the approval of the Council, appoint one of the Council members as
Mayor Pro Tem and one as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem. The appointed
Council members shall hold the office for one year.
The Mayor Pro Tem shall perform the duties of Mayor in case the
absence or disability of the Mayor. In case of the absence or
disability of both the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem, the Deputy Mayor
Pro Tem shall perform the duties of Mayor.

RESOLUTION NO. 11 -028
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, APPOINTING A MAYOR PRO TEM
AND A DEPUTY MAYOR PRO TEM PURSUANT TO
CHAPTER 2, SECTION 2.07 OF THE HOME RULE
CHARTER; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Whereas, a Home Rule Charter was approved by the voters in a duly called
Charter election on April 4, 1987; and,
Whereas, Section 2.07 of the Charter allows for the appointment of a Mayor Pro
Tem who shall perform the duties of the Mayor in case of the absence or disability of the
Mayor; and,
Whereas, on January 21, 1995, a Charter Amendment Election was held in
which Section 2.07 was amended to include the appointment of a Deputy Mayor Pro
Tem who shall perform the duties of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem in case of the absence
or disability of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem; and,
Whereas, Section 2.07 of the Charter provides for the appointment of a Mayor
Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem; and,
Whereas, the term of office for the Mayor Pro Tem and the Deputy Mayor Pro
Tem shall be one (1) year, according to Section 2.07.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, THAT:
Section 1. All the findings in the preamble are found to be true and correct and the
City Council does hereby incorporate said findings into the body of this
resolution as if copied in its entirety.
Section 2. Effective immediately, the Mayor has appointed, with the approval of the
City Council, Councilmember to serve as
Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember to serve
as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem who shall both hold office for one (1) year.
Section 3. This resolution is hereby effective upon passage and approval by the City
Council.
PASSED AND APPROVED THIS THE 7th DAY OF JUNE 2010.
