Muller, Jeff Wang and Al Zito. CITY COUNCIL ABSENT Mayor Pro Tem Laura K. Hill STAFF PRESENT City Manager Shana Yelverton, Assistant City Manager Ben Thatcher, Assistant City Manager /Director of Public Safety Jim Blagg, Director of Economic Development Greg Last, Director of Human Resources Stacey Black, Director of Planning and Development Services Ken Baker, Chief of Fire Services Mike Starr, Director of Community Services Chris Tribble, Director of Public Works Robert Price, City Attorney E. Allen Taylor, and City Secretary Alicia Richardson. 1. CALL TO ORDER The Special Meeting was called to order by Mayor Terrell at 5:38 p.m. 2. INVOCATION Pastor Clayton Reed of Southlake Baptist gave the invocation. Mayor Terrell led the pledge of allegiance. 3. RESOLUTION NO. 11 -026, CANVASS THE RETURNS AND DECLARE THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 14, 2011. APPROVED Mayor Terrell read into record the results of the May 14, 2011 General and Special Election. The returns declared the following: • Martin Schelling elected to City Council, Place 1 — term expiring May 2014 • Pamela A. Muller elected to City Council, Place 6 — term expiring May 2014 • Proposition defeated — "The legal sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed beverages ". Motion: Bledsoe Second: Zito Ayes: Bledsoe, Morris, Muller, Terrell, Wang, Zito Nays: None Absent: Hill Approved: 6 -0 In accordance with Section 4.21 of the City Charter, the caption for this item is listed as follows: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTHLAKE, TEXAS, CANVASSING THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON MAY 14, 2011; DECLARING THE RESULTS OF GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 4. OATHS OF OFFICE FOR CITY COUNCIL — PLACE 1 AND PLACE 6 (RECEPTION FOLLOWING). Municipal Court Judge Carol Montgomery administered the oaths of office to Mr. Martin Schelling and Ms. Pamela A. Muller. 5. SPECIAL MEETING ADJOURNED.
