Supreme Court Youth Organization was founded in 2006 by the Summy Family as a vehicle to provide opportunities for inner city boys to participate in youth activities . The Supreme Court 501 © 3 non-profit association has provided thousands of hours and thousands of dollars to meet this goal. It was always the vision of the Summy Family to grow the scope of the Supreme Court Youth Organization to include philanthropic work and personal growth opportunities to young men in their community. History of our Organization     To be of service to those in need; enhance my personal growth and academic endeavors in my community, my state, and my country. Mission of SASO I will strive everyday to better myself through academic and athletic endeavors. As I do so, I acknowledge that in order to complete my self-growth and maturity it is essential to recognize that others are less fortunate than me and it is my responsibility to be of service to them. Serving others is a priority and an essential element to achieving a complete and fulfilled life. Vision Statement of SASO To be an inclusive teen service organization  To be event focused not hours based Provide Philanthropic opportunities for Moms and Sons Provide Personal Growth opportunities for the boys  Provide a Father/Son Charity Golf Tournament each spring  Provide one out of town travel opportunity as either a Philanthropic or Personal Growth experience Purpose of SASO Organization Partnerships Events Requirements PHILANTHROPIC ASPECT OF SASO Special Olympics SWAT (Southlake Working as a Team) USO Southwest Kids Partnerships July – Special Olympics Event – Local Swim Meet - July 16, 2011 August – Southwest Kids Sports Camp – August 6, 2011 September – SWAT Event – Paint a home in Southlake - September 17, 2011 November – USO – cater and serve a meal to departing service men and women- November 6, 2011 February – Special Olympics Event April – SWAT Event Events Boys and Moms must participate in at least 3 of the 6 Philanthropic opportunities together You must stay for the entire event, so pick your commitment based on your availability Your son may attend additional opportunities without you, as long as another mother is supervising him, no boys may be dropped off and you must complete three of the five events together Moms must sign up to help plan and organize at least one (1) philanthropy event If you sign up for an event and fail to show up, that absence will be recorded. You are allowed two no shows per year if you miss more, you will not be permitted to continue with SASO the following year Requirements Three Personal Growth Meetings for the Boys October – Explore the Fine Arts January – Do I Have a Motion and a Second? March – Which Water Glass is Mine?!  Personal Growth Requirements of Membership  Each boy must attend at least one (1) of the three (3) personal growth meetings offered Each mom must help to plan and organize at least one (1) personal growth opportunity or other event Personal Growth Aspect of SASO Boys: Attend three (3) of six (6) Philanthropic Opportunities Attend one (1) of three (3) Personal Growth Meetings Optional out of town event Participate in Father/Son Charity Golf Tournament Requirement Snapshot Moms: Attend three (3) of six (6) Philanthropic Opportunities with your son Help to plan, organize, and attend at least one (1) Philanthropic opportunity Help to plan, organize, and attend at least one (1) Personal Growth Meeting or Father/Son Golf Tournament Optional out of town event Requirement Snapshot SASO is an inclusive Mother/Son Service Organization. We do not require sponsorship for membership just a willingness to serve others and a commitment to participate.   If at any time during the year a mother and son are not on target to meet the minimum requirements your membership in SASO will be immediately terminated and no refund will be given.   SASO lets everyone in but it is up to you to stay in.
