1989-08-14 PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD
-.. MINUTES
August 14, 1989
The City of Southlake Parks and Recreation Board meeting was called
to order by Chairperson, Bethann Scratchard. Members attending
were: Terry Mitchell, Ann Barnes, Steve Bender, Randy Robertson,
Rick Roberts, and Sue McNutt. Tom Walker was absent.
The name of the playground equipment company was stated incorrectly
in the July 15th minutes. It should have read Shade Tree Inc. A
motion was made and carried to approve the minutes as amended.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Playground Equipment. Boy Scout, Rob McNutt, reported that
he planned to work on the old playground equipment on
Saturday, August 19th, and get it installed the following
Saturday.
The Board discussed the dangers of the old slide and whether
to remove or keep it. It was decided to try to revamp the
slide to correct the problems. If its not possible, then it
will be removed.
2. Softball League. Randy Robertson reported that the proposal
to initiate an adult fall softball league was presented to
City Council and approved. An organizational meeting was
advertised and held with little interest. Randy decided to
change the game night from Thursday to Tuesday and hopes for
more interest.
3. Budget. Mike Barnes, Public Works Director, reported that
he had planned a meeting with T U Electric to try to work out
a reduced rate of $20,000 for baseball lights on bailfield #3.
4. Land Dedication Ordinance. Terry Mitchell reviewed data he
researched on ordinances of neighboring cities (see attached).
The Board decided to use the $500 figure per housing unit or 1
acre per 50 units in 250+ subdivisions to be collected for the
park fund.
Steve Bender will use the Flower Mound ordinance format and
write our land dedication ordinance. He plans to have it
ready for September meeting.
