Children need sports and performing arts to build coordination, agility and the self esteem gained from accomplishing a new skill. Adults enjoy these same benefits from an exercise class or an athletic league. There is also a great deal of gratification in playing and being with other people. Many friendships can be built from being involved in a recreation program together.
