Item 6G Specific Use Permit “Showcase in the Square!” ZA11-020 ZA11-020 Owners: City of Southlake & Town Square Ventures, LP Applicant: APEX Arts League & The Crossmen Request: Specific Use Permit for a Mass Gathering Event to host “Showcase in the Square!” at the Rustin Park Pavilion in Southlake Town Square on June 19, 2011 from 6PM – 9PM Location: 1400 Fountain Place & vicinity SITE PLAN SITE PLAN Event Details Sunday, June 19, 2011 (Father’s Day) 6 PM to 9 PM Staging/Preparation to begin around 3PM Drum & Bugle Corps to perform brass and percussion music Bus and corps staging areas in western parking lots (Blocks 1 & 2) Anticipated attendance – approximately 2,000 Agenda Item 6H Community Event Participation Agreement APEX Arts League and Crossman World Class Drum Corps will be required to provide a 50/50 match of contributions by the City. Request will be based on actual costs incurred, not to exceed $454.19 which is 50% of the estimated cost of $908.37. APEX Arts League and Crossman World Class Drum Corps would be responsible for incurring the cost for damage to any equipment should it occur during their use as well as all other cost related to the event. Showcase in the Square – A Drum & Bugle Corps Event In accordance with the Council adopted Community Event Participation Policy: Staff recommends approval of the Participation Agreement with APEX Arts League and Crossman World Class Drum Corps for the 2011 Showcase in the Square- A Drum & Bugle Corps Event, not to exceed $454.19 which is 50% of the estimated cost of $908.37. Featuring the World Class DCI Corps – The Crossmen of San Antonio, Texas Showcase in the Square Executed with cooperation from The City of Southlake Southlake Town Square APEX Arts League Inland-Western Carroll ISD Sponsored by various local businesses Showcases drum and bugle corps from Texas Showcase in the Square DCI is a global non profit organization promoting music education and entertainment Member Corps are designated as World Class, International Class, and Open Class. Crossmen are the only World Class Corps in Texas. Other Texas Corps are in the Open Class and are also non profit organizations associated with DCI and/or DCA Showcase in the Square Purpose Provide a community event for Father’s Day that will become and annual event Support APEX Arts League in their fine arts , growth and awareness initiatives Expose Southlake and surrounding communities to Drum Corps opportunities Generate exposure and business for sponsoring businesses and organizations Raise funds for participating Corps Showcase in the Square Target Audience All local school district and private High School musicians Families in the DFW Metroplex Drum Corps fans Music lovers Southlake Town Square customers
