I started my career in law enforcement with the Grand Prairie Police Dept. in 1988. 1 worked for the city for approx. 8 years and left as the Training Coordinator and Support Division Supervisor in 1996. 1 then became a Deputy Sheriff in Glenwood Springs Colorado and worked in that capacity for the next year. I have always been involved in training and teaching people self - defense and self - awareness as well as coaching little league sports during the same time span. Since I had a love for working with adults and children and 14 years of experience as a self - defense /martial arts instructor, it made sense to open my own Taekwondo School. It is my intention to lease the building formerly known as the Southlake Post Office at ? ?? N. Carroll Ave. My Taekwondo Facility is an independently owned and operated franchise of the American Taekwondo Association (ATA). The ATA has been a leader in the martial arts industry for the past 35 years. Today there are more than 1,000 schools across the country as well as 16 countries outside the U.S. Our organization has grown and succeeded over the years, as a direct result of the high standards we adhere to. have been in business in Southlake for this past year and the response has been nothing short of phenomenal. My school is a Family Center that emphasizes the values that every community wants for themselves as well as their children. We teach these values based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to the technical skills. The building blocks for our system are monthly themes such as: • Goals Friendship Perseverance • Self- Control Confidence Self- Improvement • Courtesy Self- Awareness Respect • Integrity Self - Esteem Dedication Most martial art schools do not have a goal to be aesthetically pleasing to the patrons or the community as a whole; my school, however,. does. I have spent a great deal of time and money to ensure that my school is second to none in both cleanliness and appeal. I have every confidence that any of my students and /or their parents throughout the Southlake communities would confirm that it is by far one of the cleanest and most impressive learning centers they have attended. My commitment to excellence and high standards will not waiver upon reaching a lease agreement with the Post Office. The entire property will be re- landscaped comparable to the landscaping at the Southlake Financial Center down the street. I understand that the community directly adjacent to the building has had problems with the driveway entering Southcrest on the North side of the property. We plan to close off and curb this driveway as part of the renovations to be done. do not foresee any problems with traffic or congestion as caused by my Taekwondo School at this location. I have been asked if children pick up times will cause traffic congestion. I do not see this being a problem now or in the future. I have attached my class schedule. I have a few classes in the afternoons for adults and most of my classes are held in the evening from 4pm — 9pm. My classes are 30 minutes in length and there Case No. ZA01 -090 Attachment C Page 2 or watcnmg class. my stuaent membership is at 2uu as of January 25, 2002. My projections indicate increasing my student membership by 950 students over the next five years. The maximum number of students I could have at the Post Office location is 400. If at anytime this were to affect my student numbers in class I would simply change the scheduling to accommodate the increased numbers and/or add classes in on Friday and Saturday. I personally don't believe there are any negatives in my taking over the old Post Office. I have been very involved with many different functions and community service operations since arriving in Southiake. It is my goal to remain involved in our community and it is very important to me that our adults and children have a nice, clean place to train and better themselves. i er c n Gaadman hool Owner Taekwondo US Case No. ZA01 -090 Attachment C Page 3 Goodman's Taekwondo USA Class Schedule Monday Tuesday 1:00 -2;00 Adult All Ranks 4:00 -4:30 TT White 4:30 -5:00 TT Orange 5:00 -5:30 TT Yellow 5:30 -6:00 Junior White 6:00 -6:30 Junior Orange,Yellow 6,30 -7:00 Junior Como -Blue 7:00 -7:30 Junior Brown -Black 7:30 -8:30 Adult All Ranks Wednesday 1:00 -2:00 All Rank ,Adults 4:00 -4:30 TT Orange 4:30 -5:00 TT Yellow 5 :00 -5:30 TT White 5:30 -6:00 Junior White 6:00 -6:30 Junior Orange,Yellow 6 :30 -7:00 Junior Camo -Blue 7:00 -7:30 Junior Brown -Black 7:30 -8:30 Adult All Ranks Friday * *NO CLASSES ** _ 3:00 -7:00 Privat lessons (by appointment only.) 6:00 -7:00 Open Floor 7 :00 -8:00 FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS (Sparring for Como and above) **This schedule may change as class enrollments change.. * *Changes will be posted and announced. 4:30 - 5:00 TT White 5:00 -5:30 TT Orange 5:30 -6:00 Junior Orange, Yellow 6:00 -6:30 Junior White 6:30 -7:00 BlackBelt \Master Club 7:00 -7:30 Junior Camo -Blue 7:30 -8:15 Adult Black (Weanonsl All Ra Thursday 4:00 -4:30 TT White 4:30 -5:00 TT Orange 5:00 -5:30 TT Yellow 5:30 -6:00 Junior Orange, Yellow 6:00 -6 :30 Junior White 6:30 -7:00 Junior Brown -Block 7:00 -7:30 Junior Camo -Blue 7:30 -8:15 Instructor All Ages 8:15 -9:00 Adult All Ranks Saturday 9:00 -10:00 Cardio (All Ranks) in•nn_ln-Ir% AA..I+ All ©..- or Junior student to this class.) 10:30 -11:00 Junior White 11:00 -11:30 Junior Orange,Yellow class time changes Case No. Attachment C ZA01 -090 Page 4 Surrounding Property Owners Goodman's Taekwondo, USA, Inc.
